Services and Specialties:
I offer highly-skilled and compassionate individual psychotherapy to adults who have survived painful life-experiences. We work to heal the toxic residue of their pasts so they can become “unstuck” and have the now and later they have longed for. I am an EMDRIA-Certified EMDR Therapist but also utilize skills, strategies, and frameworks from other evidence-based therapies and practices such as Mindfulness, Dialectical-Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Ego State and psychodynamic Attachment informed Therapy. I work from a “Stages of Change” model which means I meet each client where he or she is at. My interventions work with them instead of against them, in regards to how ready he or she currently is (not where someone thinks they should be) for making change happen.
The disorders and issues I specialize in treating are *Trauma and PTSD (including Complex PTSD), DID and other Dissociative Disorders, Anxiety/Panic and Mood Disorders, and the long-standing effects of childhood attachment wounds.
*Note. Please see my blog post on “What is trauma?” for better understanding on what I mean by that word. Before they started therapy, many people I work with wouldn’t have “technically” called whatever experience they were still hung-up on as “trauma.” Interestingly, most folks say, “how can ___ be a trauma? Other people have been through far worse than I have!” I also often hear, “It’s ridiculous that ____ still bothers me; It happened 20 (or more) years ago!” My blog post gives some basic information that can help you understand how trauma-therapy (such as EMDR) might help you finally and completely resolve issues upon which you feel “stuck.”
